In the past, the common practise to disinfect water was the introduction of Sodium Hypochlorite (Chlorine) into the water. As technology progressed ultra violet light became popular as no chemicals are introduced into the water and bacteria and cysts are rendered un-harmful more effectively. Essentially, the water is being dosed with large amounts of Sun light, so it has no effect on the taste of the water. UV as it is known is also more cost effective than adding chemicals to the water. There are also no messy chemicals to handle and no complicated dosing pump. Here at The Watershop we represent Viqua's (originally R-Can) Sterilight brand of UV Systems as well as Trojan.
A UV works using an ultra violet lamp, which is changed every 12 to 24 months. At The Watershop we try to offer all different makes and brands of replacement Lamps.
